Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Aspengrove’s primary and senior concert choirs and concert band will be entertaining the audience prior to the Musical ‘Lemonade’ being performed by our Kindergarten to Grade 4 students who have been rehearsing during music class for the past several weeks.
Glasses of lemonade will be sold for 5 cents per glass prior to the show in the lobby area and a non-perishable food item donation to Loaves & Fishes is appreciated as the admission fee.
Our students are excited to be able to share their performance with an audience after many weeks of preparation. ‘Get your Lemonade!

Summer Reading Lists

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Dr. Seuss wrote “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you’ll go.”

Research clearly shows that students who read over the summer, improve academically and those who do not read, backslide.  In other words, those who elect to read during the summer demonstrate academic growth over the summer as well as over the school year.  Summers filled with reading can account for significant differences in literacy development and academic growth in students!

Our Summer Reading Program is created to inspire reading.  In addition, selections have been made to fulfill the main aims of the IBO curriculum at all grade levels. These lists include a wide range of multi-cultural-international fiction chosen for its potential to stimulate curiosity and creativity; provoke thought and reflection; provide hope and, make you laugh.
