Earth Action by Grade 1’s

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

Our Grade 1 students have been studying waste management and received instruction from Miss Moss and Mrs. de Jong on how to make choices in reuseable and/or recyclable containers when making purchases at the grocery store.  The students studied the items in the school’s recycling containers, identified and discussed the differences in plastics and the ability or inability for them to be recycled.

Students now have the tools to make better consumer choices and to share that knowledge with their families.

Remembrance Day Ceremony

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

Grade 11 Social Studies students organized and led the Remembrance Day Ceremony at Aspengrove School on November 10, 2009 and welcomed special guests from the Lantzville Legion as well as 2009 Aspengrove  Graduate/Military Officer in Training, Sebastian Jaeger.  Songs were performed by the Junior and Senior choirs in honour of the ceremony.

As a whole school project, students from Jr. Kindergarten to Grade 12 as well as staff members created ‘Visions of Peace’ notes which have been posted throughout the school so that all members of the Aspengrove community can read each individual vision card on what Peace means to the members of our school community.
