“Every child is unique, and I am committed to fostering those individual differences and giving children opportunities to develop their abilities to their maximum potential.”
Mrs. Marshall brings a passion for science, and particularly biology, to Aspengrove School. Mrs. Marshall received her bachelor of science from the University of Victoria in 1993 followed by a bachelor of education from the University of British Columbia in 1994. As a teacher and a scientist, she has been involved in the Human Genome Project, the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Therapeutics, Terry Fox Laboratory and the Canadian Red Cross. She hopes to develop mentorship opportunities between academic and industry research scientists and the students of Aspengrove.
In 1992 Mrs. Marshall was a member of the Canadian Olympic Yachting team in Barcelona. In 2004, her crew captured the Canadian Women’s National Keelboat championship. She is co-author of the Instructor’s Learn to Race Manual, published by the Canadian Yachting Association, and shares her enthusiasm for sailing with her students.
Mrs. Marshall has been a member of the advisory panel for the Nelson Sciense Probe 8 textbook, with the Grade 9 and 10 books upcoming as well. In addition to reviewing and evaluting the draft materials, she was also a contributing author.
