Powering Progress: Our Current Projects
Our current projects are a reflection of the direction we are growing. Every initiative is fueled by ambitions to aim higher and walk us toward our vision of being a world-class school for central Vancouver Island.
We invite you to explore the work currently underway and share in the excitement as we build for brighter futures. Each section below features information and updates related to that project. Innovation Studio
Today’s young adults are faced with a quickly changing landscape that approaches greater dependence on technology every day. With easy access to artificial intelligence and accompanying tools, it is more important than ever to teach people a strong foundation in how to think critically and solve problems on their own.
Vision
As a university preparatory school, Aspengrove School is committed to preparing students for success in future careers and life. Developing students to be global leaders who think critically, act creatively, and engage meaningfully in their communities equips students to thrive as young adults.
Creating a central hub on campus, called the Innovation Studio, will enable students to build confidence and be ready for whatever comes their way in our tech-driven world. The Innovation Studio will become the heart of hands-on, project-based learning at Aspengrove. It will give students the tools, space, and inspiration to design, build, and create – so technology becomes a tool through which to express themselves rather than lose themselves.
As a collaborative environment, designed to promote creativity, collaboration, and excellence, the Innovation Studio will be open to students to access anytime during school hours and will be a space for events and community gatherings to showcase students’ creations at Aspengrove.
Project
The long-term plan is to create an Innovation and Science Centre by re-imagining our existing Treehouse, converting the art room into an Innovation Studio and the two adjacent classrooms into state-of-the-art science classrooms. These new facilities will offer dedicated space and equipment that open up a world of possibilities for hands-on learning, creativity, and scientific discovery
We are starting with the Innovation Studio. Enhancing the existing art classroom in the Treehouse, the Innovation Studio will be a West Coast–inspired, multi-purpose learning environment that blends the learning of and interactions with art, design, and technology. It will feature flexible workspaces, robotics and coding labs, 3D printers, ceramics equipment, and showcase areas for student projects. Adding more windows will create a bright, motivating space in which to learn and a garage door will allow any necessary equipment to be moved in and out easily. An additional storage room will add square footage to the space as well as house a kiln.
Project Overview
Work to create the Innovation Studio is targeted to start over the 2025 holiday break.
Phase I of this project will happen over winter break and include updates such as laying new flooring and adding equipment (e.g. kiln, ceramic wheels, 3D printers).
Phase II will happen over summer and will largely comprise of the structural changes needed to add the windows and a garage door. The two classrooms will be converted into science labs during the summer break if more classroom space is needed ahead of next school year.
Construction Update
We will update our progress in this section as there is news to share.
Phase I will begin over 2025 winter break. This work will bring a new look and function to the space by adding new flooring and equipment such as a kiln, ceramic wheels, and 3D printers.
We are finalizing a list of the necessary supplies required to maximize benefits of this space and meet the needs of our current and desired school programs.
Fundraising is ongoing. We are 80% of the way to achieving our goal. Any gifts made in support of this project will go toward elevating the space further.Support This Project

Phase II will happen over summer and will be the structural changes to add windows or skylights and a garage door to brighten the space and add storage behind the classroom. What is the goal for the Annual Fund and what is the timeline?
We are so close to reaching our goal of $200,000. We’re just over 80% of the way there! If everyone joined in supporting this project with a small gift, we know we could surpass the goal quickly and celebrate at the end of January.Who can access the Innovation Studio and when?
Students from grades 4 and up will work on projects that will benefit from this space. The school is looking to expand these programs to even younger students as well.
The Innovation Studio will also be open to students to access anytime during school hours and will be a space for events and community gatherings to showcase students’ creations at Aspengrove.Who can I talk to more about this project?
