A world beyond aspengrove
The Purpose of Global Leadership
Aspengrove’s Global Leadership Program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become thoughtful, confident, and culturally aware leaders. In an increasingly complex and connected world, our students develop the ability to think strategically, lead with empathy, and apply leadership skills across diverse cultural contexts.
By fostering self-awareness, empathy, and communication, Global Leadership prepares students not just for academic success, but for meaningful impact in the world beyond Aspengrove.
Opportunities for travel
Learning Through Cultural Exchange
Aspengrove’s Global Leadership opportunities give students meaningful experiences beyond the classroom. From pen pal exchanges to travel across Canada and the world, students engage in authentic cultural learning that broadens perspective, independence, and understanding—fully supported to ensure they feel prepared and inspired.
Junior & Middle School
Pen Pal Exchanges: Students connect with peers in Bali, Rwanda, Brazil, and Slovakia, building empathy, cultural awareness, and self-knowledge.
Grade 7 Visits: Friendship exchanges with Island Pacific School on Bowen Island, BC, including opportunities for in-person visits.
Senior School
Grade 8: Local leadership exchanges in BC and across Canada, including West Point Grey Academy (Vancouver), St. John’s Ravenscourt (Winnipeg), and West Island College (Calgary).
Grade 9: Students host and travel to Tamagawa School in Tokyo, Japan, spending 11 days immersed in Japanese culture with host families.
Grade 10: German exchange with Buckhorn Gymnasium in Hamburg, Germany (10–12 days), with plans to expand individual exchange opportunities to countries such as Singapore and South Africa.
Grade 11: Optional two-week experiences at Les Chartreux School (Lyon, France) and Colegio Juan de Lanuza (Zaragoza, Spain).
All exchanges include homestays, school visits, and cultural immersion. Families are supported with guidance and training to ensure meaningful experiences both as hosts and visitors.

Meet our Head of GLobal LEadership
Mr. J.O. Eriksson
“Deep meaning and authentic connections emerge out of relationships. By creating relationships with others in new contexts, students learn more about themselves and what they are capable of. Their reach indeed exceeds their grasp in profound new ways. I am inspired by the ongoing relevance of the simple line from British novelist E.M. Forster: ‘Only connect.’”
